Auburn may not have lit up the score board last night as they have in weeks past, but they put together a solid win on the road in a hostile environment.
The defense brokedown at some critical moments towards the end but it was overall a dominating performance by a bunch that really needed it. Take away the play at the very end of the game and literally a couple of others and this game is 26-10 all the way.
The offense stuttered a bit for the first time this year, and it still put up a good yardage mark (459), but it stalled in the red zone time and time again. If the tigers had executed better here this game could have been a lot worse for Tennessee (kudos to M. Kiffin for having his guys in the right places). Ben Tate had a strong solid performance, the kind of game you need from a Senior in a road game. McCalebb was able to show us some flashes of greatness once again, breaking for a few key first downs just when the Tigers needed them. Zachary had a TD reception and Darvin Adams didn't have a horrible night, he made a few catches for us and made a heads play on a fumble by Tate that could have been a nightmare for us.
Special Teams did a lot better, they didn't have confusion on certain plays that we've seen in weeks past. We blocked an extra point (hell yea) and Wes Byrum had a great game going 3/4 on field goal attempts and hitting both of his PAT's.
Overall, it could have been a lot better or worse depending on how you look at it. Our defense broke a few times and allowed some big plays but overall you couldn't have asked for much more. Our offense couldn't quite finish many of their drives, but they moved the ball and ate up clock really well. So once again kudos to the team for gutting out a tough win on the road and making their on breaks and not becoming overwhelmed by the moment of it all. War Eagle everybody have a great Sunday afternoon!
