Of course, I'm talking about Lebo's men's basketball team with that title. I've given it some thought, and the only way we make the NCAA tournament is to win three more games. There's obviously two ways of doing that:
1. Beat LSU on Saturday and make it to the conference finals, where we lose
2. Lose to LSU on Saturday and win the conference tournament
Of course, we could beat LSU and win the conference tournament and get in, but that should be obvious to anyone.
If we play four more games and go 3-1, that gets us to 23-11 (12-7). Right now we're guaranteed of having at worst a tie for the fourth-best conference record. If we beat LSU on Saturday, we could conceivably be tied for the second-best conference record with the winner of tonight's Tennessee/South Carolina game.
With Kentucky's home loss last night to Georgia, we have surpassed them in the RPI standings and bubble pecking order. With Florida's loss to Mississippi State, we're within striking distance of them. Right now we're the fifth team in based on resumes (in my estimation). We're playing better than anyone in the conference. If we beat LSU, beat the #3 seed out of the east on Friday, beat the #1 seed out of the east on Saturday, then lose to LSU or the #2 seed out of the east on Sunday, I think the committee will slide us in, as one of the last at-large teams. That would put us to 10-2 in our last 12 games in a "power conference" (not so powerful this year). While these other bubble teams have been choking (UK to UGA, UF to Miss St., Cincy to South Florida, Miami to Georgia Tech, Georgetown to St. John's, etc.) we've been taking care of business.
What do you guys think?
