There was a time when I really liked Conan. It was 2002-2003. I grew tired of him not long after that. In recent history, we've had cable, and it usually doesn't occur to me to see what's on the networks.
I knew that moving Conan was a bad idea. I happened to be watching one night when he said that moving to an earlier time did not mean his show would change and become more Leno-esque (i.e. lame). We all knew that was the right thing to say, but that it was decidedly quixotic.
Did anyone think giving Leno a primtime show was a godo idea? Who thought that could work? As soon as I heard about it, I thought, "so, NBC was only pretending to have realized that America has had all of this idiocy it can stand."
So, now we have this big mix up that many of us like to pretend is newsworthy. What can I say? I find it interesting even though I've watched a sum total of about 6 minutes of Leno, Conan, and Fallon since the realignment.

This afternoon I was listening to an NPR report from Haiti, and the correspondent described a gentleman armed with a Glock 9 with a 33-round magazine. The reader may know I've lived with a general sense of pending apocalypse since the last "presidential" election. Now, I have been watching the news (at least on the webternoogle), and I have heard the situation in Haiti described as "hell on earth," but, when I heard about that guy walking around with a gun, it hit me that, for that dude, the apocalypse is, well, now. Then it caused me to wonder how the reporter knew the magaznie holds 33 rounds. Had he interviewed the individual? Or, had he done a little research? Or, did reporter actually already know that that is the number of rounds held by a Glock mag that sticks that far out of the grip? If he did, then I say "thumbs up" to you, NPR reporter dude. What he didn't report was whether said Glock was fully auto. He did say that it had a shoulder stock attached. This first caused me to think that there isn't any need to have a shoulder stock for a pistol unless it is fully auto, but, then I realized that, it could be helpful if one just really wanted to be highly accurate. That dude may be shooting for food, or his life, or the life of his family. I imagine accuracy is a priority.
