It seems to be a national sport (or at least regional) to make fun of Trooper Taylor and accuse him of cheating. It has almost become comical to watch rival fans breathlessly await the next 'bomb' to drop. A few weeks ago ESPN and Yahoo we're supposed to drop huge stories implicating Trooper and Auburn. Message boards everywhere were awash with rabid fans spouting rumors that they had heard from "people that know". Both stories barely mentioned Auburn, and were in fact about Mississippi State.
Right after these stories broke, I got a great email from a friend that said "I wish Trooper would stop paying players to go to other schools, we need some here."
Here's my point in all this. Lay off all the accusations, pay attention to your own team. Here is what we know about Trooper Taylor. He is a heck of a motivator, he fires up a team like no other. He is one of the best recruiters in the country. I'm not so sure about coaching, to put it nicely the wide receivers under him have under performed at Auburn. The rest is conjecture, slander, and fans hating on him because he wears his hat backwards to honor his father.
Here is something I do know. Trooper Taylor donated a lot of time and money to the Miracle League, which is a special needs baseball program that I was involved in. If you think he can fire up a college football player, you should have seen how jacked up these kids were when he got through.
It will never happen, but it would be nice if fans would back off a little throwing accusations around, but in a conference where 'fans' burn down buildings, poison trees, and break windows on buses, don't hold your breath.
