I posted this observation on several social media outlets earlier this week. It's the only way I can make sense of 1-7:

We won the Chickfila Bowl. To make more sense of this we should review Auburn's recent season that followed a victory in the Chickfila/Peach bowl. Auburn wins the 1997 CFA bowl, and the next season Bowden leaves/fired (1998). Auburn wins the 2007 CFA bowl. The following season Tuberville leaves/fired (2008). AU wins 2011 CFA bowl. Chizik is now 1-7.

Make what you will of it, but Auburn clearly doesn't follow up Chickfila/Peach bowls well.
