Auburn Equestrian? Absolutely

Since so many people on CaM are interested in Auburn sports (swimming and diving, softball, soccer, and equestrian), I want to bring light to how successful the equestrian program has been at Auburn. I'm sure you all have attended all the events though; so, this may be a boring post.

Before telling you about Auburn's success, let me tell you about the history of college equestrian. According to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA), in 1998, Equestrian was classified as an NCAA emerging sport. At that time there were six participating teams (Auburn, Fresno State, Georgia, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and Texas A&M). Today there are currently 23 colleges and universities offering Equestrian as a varsity sport, and more continue to add the program each year.

Since 2002, Auburn has won 2 national championships in Equestrian. They have also been national runner-ups in the reserve spot. Auburn's current coach, Greg Williams, was born in Paragould, Arkansas, and received his degree from Auburn in 1986. Greg also has two daughters, and is considered one of the best Equestrian coaches in the NCEA.

I think everyone needs to stop complaining about football and realize how good our equestrian program is. I can't wait for the match against prominent Georgia on Nov. 9. Let's pack that bitch out!
