Auburn Host No.2 Florida In Final Regular Season Series

Patrick Savage has hit a homerun in each of the last three games. He is on a five game hitting streak batting .368 with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI's and five runs scored since the start of May.

On Tuesday night the Auburn Tigers were down by one run to Jacksonville State with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth but the Gamecocks held on to take an 8-7 win.

Had the Tigers won that game it would have upped their record to 30 wins and help their case for a post season bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Now the Tigers will have to go for their 30th win against No. 2 Florida this weekend at Plainsman Park.

The Tigers (29-24) have already clinched a spot in next week's SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. and could finish as high as the fifth seed; depending on the Florida series and the outcomes of other series taking place in the conference.

This is another critical series. If the Tigers can win at least two games they should have an excellent chance at making the NCAA field. However, with a current RPI of 61, anything less than two wins might mean the Tigers will have to win or at least play in the SEC Tournament final to make the NCAA.

The Gators (38-15) were the preseason favorite to win the SEC. They come into Auburn at third in the SEC East but still have a chance to win the division and the SEC depending on what takes place in the LSU - South Carolina and Kentucky - Mississippi State series.

Thursday and Friday's games begin at 6:30 CST and Saturday's contest will start at 1 p.m. Jon Luke Jacobs (5-2, 3.10) will take the mound tonight with Florida countering with Hudson Randall (6-1, 3.29).

The game will be broadcast by WKKR-FM 97.7 and fans can go to AuburnTigers.com for live audio and video.

However, the Tigers need as many of the faithful to show up as possible. So if there is any way you can make the games, come out and do your part to add to the home field atmosphere.

Go Tigers- Skin those Gators!
