Keep Your Head Up, Remember Why It's Great To Be An Auburn Tiger

Maybe it's the one drawback from the magical season in 2010, but does anyone else sense a kind of lust for winning among Auburn fans? Don't get me wrong, I love to win, but Auburn has always been different. As a fanbase and team, we win and lose with class....something Alabama, Georgia and LSU will never quite understand. LSU didn't understand why we gave the team a standing ovation this Saturday, when they stood toe to toe with the number two team in the country. Bama fans laughed when we applauded our outmatched Tigers in the Iron Bowl last year just minutes after the game was out of reach. It's something they don't understand, but it's because our fanbase really more closely resembles a family.

We don't need to turn into Alabama because we won a national championship, we need to stay 'Auburn'. The best example I can give you is after Auburn's huge comeback win in the 2010 Iron Bowl I talked to a Bama fan at work. He wanted to fire Nick Saban. I laughed of course, but he was serious. I can't stand Saban, but the man had just won them the national championship. This Bama fan's reasoning was, and I quote "The first time a bird dog don't bring you a bird back, you shoot it." I was too stunned to even respond. Auburn hasn't come close to reaching that level, but there has been a lot of grumbling, some justified and some not. Give this team a chance, there seems to be plenty of fight in them.
