Gus Malzahn rounded out his impressive coaching staff Friday with the addition of Tim Horton.
Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn completed his first coaching staff Friday, as he hired Arkansas running backs coach Tim Horton to coach tight ends, according to Phillip Marshall of auburnsports.com ($).
In addition to coaching Arkansas's running backs, Horton was the Razorbacks' recruiting coordinator. The hiring of Horton means Malzahn has now plucked the recruiting coordinators from Georgia (Rodney Garner), Florida State (Dameyune Craig), Mississippi State (Melvin Smith) and Arkansas. New secondary coach Charlie Harbison was a key recruiter at Clemson, and special teams/running backs coach Rich Bisaccia was a solid recruiter during his time as a college assistant.
Horton has 22 years of experience coaching at the college level, including the last six at Arkansas. He has also coached at Air Force, Kansas State and Appalachian State. He was a four-year letterman and three-year starter at split end and punt returner while at Arkansas from 1987-90.
With his staff completed, Malzahn and his assistants can now put their entire focus on finishing out the 2013 recruiting cycle.
