The Tigers added safety Mackenro Alexander on National Signing Day.
Mackenro Alexander, the No. 579-rated recruit according to 247Sports, announced his intention to sign with Auburn during a ceremony at his school on National Signing Day.
Alexander, who played for Immokalee (Fla.) High School, chose Auburn over West Virginia and Mississippi State, the two other finalists for his services.
Alexander had zeroed in on Auburn after also considering from eight other schools, including Texas A&M, Clemson, Florida State and Tennessee. Many expected Alexander and his brother, the hearalded MacKensie, to pick the same school, but MacKensie, a five-star cornerback, selected Clemson.
Alexander was the 40th-highest safety in the 247Sports rankings, and he was tabbed as the No. 84 player in Florida. He joins an Auburn squad that has had plenty of secondary troubles in recent years, and despite his lower rating, he should come in and provide nice depth.
