A month ago few would have imagined that tonight’s game in Baton Rouge would mean so much. The winner will move into first place in the SEC West and control its destiny in the race for Atlanta.

Let’s don’t beat around the bush: Tonight’s game is a tall task. LSU is thought by many to be the best team in the country. While that’s arguable, few can deny that the Bayou Bengals have the best talent in the SEC.

Playing in Louisiana on a Saturday night is an experience like no other. Auburn will be taking a lot of young kids into that environment for the first time. To be successful, Auburn will have to establish itself early – something it has done very well the last few weeks.

Brandon Cox and the offense will have to bring a better game to Tiger Stadium than it did against Arkansas last week. The defense will have to continue play lights out for another week.

Can Auburn win? I wouldn’t bet against them. They are the best big game road team in America. The defense is good enough to keep them in the game. The offense is capable of making big plays.

In the end, it will come down to defense. They are the two best units in the conference. Whoever can contain and force turnovers the best will probably win the game. It’s going to be an interesting night.

The open thread is up and ready to go. Please drop in and share your thoughts on Auburn and all the games taking place today. We’d love to hear your thoughts. War Eagle!
