It’s finally here. Today marks the beginning of the three most important weeks of the year. For Auburn fans, it doesn’t get any better than Amen Corner. For the next 21 days Auburn football will be all consuming. The addition of the bye week before Alabama will make things all the more intense.
But let’s take things one day at a time.
This afternoon’s showdown in Athens marks the 111th meeting between Auburn and Georgia. As usual, there are more subplots than I can go into here.
While Georgia still has hopes of making it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game, Auburn is playing for another 10 win season and a possible New Year’s Day bowl game.
But all of that takes a backseat when these two get together. These are the games where memories are made and legends born.
Georgia enters today’s contest as a 1 ½ point favorite. Four of the last seven games between these two have been decided in the closing seconds. All indications are it will be the same way today.
I’m heading off to Athens in a few minutes, but please drop by before, during and after the game to share your thoughts on the contest. War Eagle!
