With all the Tommy Tuberville contract talk last week, there were a few things we missed. I’m sure you saw the final regular season polls. The USA Today Coaches’ Poll and Harris Interactive Poll are the ones that count toward the BCS.
The Associated Press continues to run its poll, but it doesn’t count in the BCS rankings. Auburn finished 21st in the Coaches’ Poll; 22nd in the Associated Press Poll and 23rd in the Harris Interactive Poll.
I thought it would be interesting to see how some of the more recognizable personalities voted in all the polls. Let’s take a look:
David Housel – The former Auburn athletic director votes in the Harris Poll and put the Tigers at 20th in his final ballot. His top three were Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Georgia.
Mike Kolen – The former Auburn great also votes in the Harris Poll and placed Auburn 23rd in his poll. He had Ohio State, LSU and Georgia in his top three.
Ray Melick – The Birmingham News writer votes in the Harris Poll and placed Auburn 19th. His top three were LSU, Ohio State and USC.
Mike Lude – Auburn’s former athletic director voted the Tigers 24th in the Harris Poll. His top three were Ohio State, LSU and Oklahoma.
Neal McCready of the Mobile Press-Register voted Auburn 18th in the AP Poll. His top three were Ohio State, LSU and Georgia.
Jay G. Tate – The Montgomery Advertiser writer put Auburn 20th in his Associated Press Poll. His top three were Ohio State, Oklahoma and Georgia.
Kirk Herbstreit – Here’s a surprise. The ESPN personality voted Auburn 11th in the AP Poll. His top three were Ohio State, LSU and USC.
Chris Fowler – The Gameday host voted Auburn 17th. His top three were Ohio State, Southern Cal and LSU.
Craig James – The ABC analyst and former SMU All-American didn’t rank Auburn in the top 25. His top three were Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and USC.
Tommy Tuberville – He ranked Auburn 19th in his USA Today Coaches’ Poll. His top three were LSU, Oklahoma and Ohio State.
Tommy Bowden – The Clemson coach ranked Auburn 23rd. He ranks his Tigers 14th. His top three in the Coaches’ Poll were Ohio State, LSU and Georgia.
Dennis Franchione – Does the former Aggie coach still hold a grudge against Auburn? He must. He didn't rank Auburn in his top 25. His top three were Ohio State, USC and LSU.
Mark Richt – Despite whipping the Tigers, Richt still showed Auburn some love. He ranked Auburn 18th on his ballot. His top three were: Ohio State, Georgia and LSU.
