While Auburn fans have to wait for the BCS National Championship Game, it may be a good time to check on Tigers that are playing on Sundays in the NFL.
After what the Redskins pulled on former Auburn Quarterback Jason Campbell last spring, I have to say that it sets well with me to see the Skins struggle this season; especially while Campbell appears to be leading the Raiders to a possible playoff birth.
Jason was 21-of-30 for 324 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders' 38 - 31 loss to Jacksonville Sunday. However, under his leadership the Raiders are in the thick of the NFL playoff picture in the AFC Western Division for the first time since 2002. Sunday afternoon he connected with Darren McFadden on a 67-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and threw an eight yard touchdown pass to Louis Murphy in the second quarter.
Campbell will be leading the Raiders against the Broncos this Sunday. If the Raiders win and the Rams beat the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland will be only one game out of the lead in the West. Let's keep our fingers crossed for Jason and fellow teammate Quenton Groves who plays linebacker for the Raiders..
In other news, Ronnie Brown was the leading rusher for the Dolphins as they beat the Jets 10-6. Brown ran for 66 yards on 16 carries. Karlos Dansby led the Dolphins defense with a four yard sack for a loss, a forced fumble, a deflected pass, and nine combined tackles. The guy is still a beast.
Brandon Jacobs led the Giants' offense Monday night with 116 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown as they defeated the Vikings 21 - 3. Jacobs now has eight touchdowns on the year.
Auburn has thirty one players on NFL rosters this season. Several are on their team's injured reserve list including Ben Tate of the Houston Texans (broken ankle in preseason) and the Bill's Antonio Coleman who went out a week ago with a season ending knee injury.
