I had a great conversation this past week with Lyn Scarbrough, the marketing director for Lindy's Sports Annuals. An Auburn graduate, Scarbrough is responsible for promoting the great college football annuals we've all grown to love. He's also a regular contributor to their numerous publications.
Speaking from his offense in Birmingham, he was beyond excited about what's in store for Auburn fans when the Tigers defeat Oregon tomorrow night in Glendale. As you would expect, he's in Arizona now for the big game; but it's hardly a vacation.
When the game concludes in the early hours of January 11th, Scarbrough will head back to his hotel room to write the final chapter of this championship season. He'll work all night, submit his work to Lindy's editors and then through hustle and true grit, get a special national championship edition on store shelves by Wednesday.
What happens if Auburn goes down in defeat? He'll still be writing, only it will be about the Oregon Ducks. Being the national powerhouse that it is, Lindy's will go through the same motions and publish a special collector's edition for Duck fans.
But let's not go there.
Scarbrough shared with me some of the feature stories that have been written for the special edition. I can't wait to get my hands on the publication. I was sworn to secrecy by Scarbrough, so I'll keep my word and not divulge the topics.
I promise you'll want to grab one.
