Gene Chizik has one more recruiting target left this winter. Auburn is going after Louisville defensive line coach Clint Hurtt as a replacement for Tracy Rocker who recently joined the Tennessee Titans.
Hurtt is on campus today meeting with Chizik. Landing him would be another shot in the arm for Auburn recruiting. He was named ESPN's Recruiter of the Year a few weeks back for helping the Cardinals land a stellar class of mostly out-of-state prospects.
Talking with ESPN recently, Louisville coach Charlie Strong had nothing but praise for Hurtt.
"I knew if I had a chance to get him (Hurtt), then I had to get him," said Strong. "The kids trust him. He's a leader and a great recruiter. He's driven, one heck of a football coach and a really good person.
"He wants the best for his players and these recruits. I was excited to get him because he wants to be the best. Lots of staffs have good coaches or good recruiters. Clint Hurtt is both."
Prior to joining Louisville last season, Hurtt worked as Miami's defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator from 2006-2009. His recruiting classes ranked among the top 10 each year and his 2008 signing class was ranked number one in the country.
