National Champs
The Auburn Equestrian Team continued their winning ways this weekend winning both the Hunt Seat and the overall National Championships. Just last month the Tigers defeated Georgia for their second consecutive SEC Championship.
Auburn riders also earned three MVPs during the championship meet for top competitors in three events. Junior Grace Socha was the equitation over fences MVP, junior Maggie McAlary was the equitation on the flat MVP and senior Paige Monfore was the horsemanship reigning MVP.
Head Coach Greg Williams said he was very proud of what the team has accomplished. "I knew this was a special group coming in, and these past three days, they proved it," "This national championship for the Auburn fans is due to the hard work of coach Neubarth and coach Helfer and a group of girls that will do anything for each other."
Coach Williams has the right to be proud of his team. He had three riders earn All-American honors this season. Junior Maggie McAlary, sophomore Indy Roper and sophomore Lindsay Portela were all named first team All- Americans.
And the Tigers ended the year with three championship titles, including the SEC Championship, the Hunt Seat National Championship, and the Overall National Championship.
Congratulations Tigers! You have made us all proud.
