Will Auburn fan Robert Gibbs return to White House for the Tigers Meeting with the President?

On Saturday January 22, 2011, Auburn Head Football Coach Gene Chizik stood on Pat Dye Field in Auburn and told 80,000 adoring fans, "You have helped us and been a huge part of the best football team in the United States of America" ... "I will say it again, It's not kinda ... sorta ...  almost. You are the best fans in the United States of America!"

On that chilly January day in Jordan-Hare stadium the Auburn faithful had gathered to pay tribute to the Undefeated and Undisputed National Champions of College Football - the Auburn Tigers.

The Mayor of Auburn Bill Ham and the Governor of Alabama Robert Bentley  both were present to officially congratulate the Tigers.

And today almost five months after Auburn defeated the Oregon Ducks 22 - 19  to win college football's top prize, the Tigers will receive recognition from the leader of the free world, the President of the United States, Barrack Obama.

Auburn had originally been scheduled to receive the White House honors on April 29th but the trip had to be postponed due to the historic and tragic tornadoes that struck the state on April 27th.

The 100 plus Auburn delegation will be the guest of the President. Some have wondered if the four Tigers taken by the pro's in April's NFL Draft will be able to make the event.

The latest news reports indicate that all four (Defensive Tackle Zack Clayton, Offensive Tackle Lee Ziemba, Lombardi Winner Nick Fairley, and Heisman Trophy Winner Cam Newton) will be in attendance with the rest of the team.

However, no one can confirm whether former White House Press Secretary and Auburn fan Robert Gibbs will be able to attend the Rose Garden ceremony.

At any rate, Coach Chizik and his team will be honored at approximately 2:00p.m. CST. We will have a live feed of the event here.

The players will get a chance to meet the President after he talks about their amazing season and takes pictures with the champs.

Coach Chizik said back in January that he was grateful that Auburn has the best fans in the United States of America. Well the fans are just as grateful that Auburn has the best team in the United States of America.

We are also grateful and proud  to see our Tigers at the White House. Congratulations once again guys and ...

War Eagle!
