T. J. Davis, one of the top defensive back recruits in the country has committed to Auburn. Davis is a senior at Godby High in Tallahassee, Florida. He is the third cornerback committed for 2012. Joshua Holsey of Atlanta's Creekside High committed in May and Jonathan Jones of Carrollton, Georgia committed last week.
Davis had offers from over 30 schools and made his pick from his final six favorites of Auburn, Notre Dame, Florida State, Ohio State, TCU, and Alabama. T.J. is the National Champions 15th commitment for 2012.
ESPN ranks the four star 6' 1", 180 lb. DB as the No.11 cornerback in the nation. Like Jonathan Jones, he is also a track star. He competed this summer at the Nike Team Nationals in Eugene, Oregon in hurdles.
Some thought he was leaning toward Notre Dame and FSU. But that was before he made a couple of visits to Auburn ...
"It was overwhelming - the campus, the way the coaches interacted with me and the players they have there right now," Davis said. "They have a great communications program. (And) I just always felt the love from the coaching staff; it's going to be the right place for me. I couldn't be happier with my decision.
Godby Defensive Coordinator Brian Williams said Davis, "Has got great speed and ... he will be a great player." His Head Coach Ronnie Cottrell said, "He had offers from all over the country, but he chose Auburn."
We're glad you chose Auburn T J. Welcome to the family and War Eagle!
