Auburn finalizes 2013 football schedule

An opener against Washington State and a tough November highlight Auburn's 2013 football schedule.

John Reed-US PRESSWIRE

The Auburn Tigers released their 2013 football schedule Monday without too many surprises. In addition to the eight conference games announced by the SEC 11 days ago, Auburn will play four non-conference games at home.

Auburn plays five of its first six games at home, including three straight games at Jordan-Hare Stadium to open the season. The Tigers play Mike Leach's Washington State Cougars in Week 1, Gus Malzahn's Arkansas State Red Wolves in Week 2 and open SEC play against Mississippi State in Week 3. Auburn closes out September with a road date at LSU in Week 4.

After a bye week, the Tigers face Ole Miss, Western Carolina, Texas A&M and Florida Atlantic in October. The game against A&M will mark Auburn's first visit to Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The month of November, as it usually does, will make or break Auburn's season. The Tigers travel to Arkansas and Tennessee before hosting Georgia and Alabama.

A tentatively scheduled game against Jacksonville State was dropped due to a scheduling conflict. The Gamecocks will reportedly still receive the $500,000 agreed upon in their contract with Auburn.

The complete 2013 schedule is as follows:

Aug. 31 Washington State
Sept. 7 Arkansas State
Sept. 14 Mississippi State
Sept. 21 at LSU
Oct. 5 Ole Miss
Oct. 12 Western Carolina
Oct. 19 at Texas A&M
Oct. 26 Florida Atlantic
Nov. 2 at Arkansas
Nov. 9 at Tennessee
Nov. 16 Georgia
Nov. 30 Alabama
Open dates: Sept. 28, Nov. 23
