Auburn Forward Blanche Alverson is the second leading 3-point shooter in the SEC this season.

Auburn Junior Blanche Alverson is a very good basketball player. She plays both guard and forward and is currently second in the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage with a 41.4 percent average. Her 53 treys this season rank eighth on Auburn's all-time single-season 3-point list. In addition, Alverson is fourth on the women's basketball team in scoring with nine points per game along with 4.1 rebounds per game.

However, Blanche is more than a good athlete; she is also a good student. Just this week she was honored by the SEC for her work in the classroom and in the community.

On Wednesday she was recognized as the Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and on Tuesday she was named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Community Service Team for the second year in a row.

Active in several community service projects, Alverson created her own community service project this year, which saw fans donate more than 500 books that Blanche plans to donate to the Loachapoka Library and the Pine Hills Literacy Project.

Blanche holds a 3.68 cumulative g.p.a. in pre-med and is a two-time selection to the Capital One Academic All-District Team. She is also a member of Cardinal T, which honors the top 40 juniors on the Auburn campus, and Mortar Board, a community service honor society.

Congratulations Blanche you make us all proud. War Eagle!
