Auburn to Attempt Sweep of LSU Sunday

Dan Glevenyak stood at the plate tonight in the bottom of the 10th facing a 2-2 count with the infield drawn in ... he hit the next pitch deep to right-center driving in Cullen Wacker for the game-winning run over LSU and Auburn's fifth straight win.

"I was just looking for a ball up in the zone that I could handle. I got a fastball, put a good swing on it and drove it out to right field. I didn't think it was going to be that deep but it started carrying and I had a good feeling about it."

Glevenyak's sacrifice fly and Auburn's defensive inning-ending double plays in the ninth and 10th innings won the game and the series for the Tigers.

The win improved the Tigers record to 15-8 (4-1 SEC) and for the first time since 1990 gave Auburn a third straight series win over LSU. Auburn's win tonight coupled with the Ole Miss wins last week, marks the first time the Tigers have taken back to back SEC opening series since 2003. LSU's record falls to 17-6 (2-3 SEC).

Once again, Auburn pitching was great as Will Kendall scattered six hits over six innings; then turned it over to the bullpen. Jay Wade, Justin Bryant, Cory Luckie and Slade Smith finished out the last four innings without allowing a run.

Creede Simpson had his fourth three-hit game of the season, and was responsible for starting two of Auburn's defensive double plays.

The Tigers will be attempting their first season sweep tomorrow in the final game with LSU at 1 pm in Samford Stadium. If they get the win, it will be the first sweep of the Bengal Tigers since 1988.

Those lucky enough to attend the game can expect another great pitching duel as Daniel Koger (1-1) will take the mound for Auburn and LSU will start Aaron Nola (3-1).
