Auburn basketball coach Tony Barbee had nothing but praise for his Seniors after the game tonight. A game that saw a very different Auburn team at times. A basketball team that made free throws down the stretch, to seal the victory even when the patented second half slump was in full effect.
"What I know about my team is that we are going to go into New Orleans with a lot of confidence with a little bit of momentum," Barbee said. "In this league, we haven’t gotten over the hump and beaten people, but we have played well against everybody in this league."
In a moment made for the big screen, Auburn's student section began chanting for Senior walk-on Jake Drum to be put into the game, and Coach Barbee was happy to oblige to the massive cheer that erupted from the Auburn Arena.
Auburn (15-15, 5-11) converted 12-of-14 free throws in the last 3:31 to secure the win. Senior walk-on Jake Drum, whose name was being cheered by the student section for several minutes, came in, got a steal and scored his first points of the season with two free throws with a minute to go to give the Tigers their largest lead of the night at 67-50.
Soon after the Twitter world was showing it's appreciation by trending Drums name with terms of Drumsanity exploding all over. This was the scene from twitter right after the game ended...
