This will be an exciting weekend for the No. 18 Auburn Gymnastics Team as the Tigers host the NCAA South Regional. And the event will probably be one of the toughest regionals with four of the six teams being ranked programs.
No.6 Georgia, No. 7 Oregon State, No. 18 Auburn, No. 21 Michigan, West Virginia and Michigan State all will be competing to move to the next level in their quest for a national championship
In all there will be 36 teams across the country that will be competing at six regional sites.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors at each regional will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA National Championship. The event winners will also advance to the championship if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
Every one that can make it needs to come out and give our Tigers a real home court advantage. The event will begin at 6 p.m. CST Saturday.
Let's Go Tigers!
Auburn posted the second-highest regional score in history with a total of 196.100 on Saturday night in the Auburn Arena. The Gymnastic Team placed fourth in what many consider the toughest regional of the 2012 season.
Auburn senior Kylie Shields (vault) and freshman Bri Guy (all-around) will be advancing to the NCAA National Gymnastic Championships next month April 21-23 in Duluth, Georgia to compete as individuals.
Congratulations to the Tigers and good luck in Duluth to Kylie and Bri !
