Auburn Coach Tina Deese will be taking her Tiger Softball Team to another NCAA Regionals. The Tigers will play Houston Friday night in Austun, Texas.

After the Auburn Softball Team ended their SEC Tournament play last week, Coach Tina Deese said, "We will be on pins and needles (waiting for the NCAA Regionals announcement)."

Well that announcement came last night and the Tigers were selected to play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. They were placed in the South West Regional to be played on the campus of the University of Texas. Auburn will play the Houston Cougars Friday, May 18 at 1p.m. The two teams have never met before.

It will be the ninth time since 2002 for Coach Deese's Tigers to appear in NCAA Regional play and the fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The five consecutive appearances is an Auburn record.

Coach Deese said,

"We are excited to have the opportunity to play in a very challenging Regional. Houston is a good team that made it to Super Regional last season, so they know what it takes this time of year. We have a lot to prepare for and we are looking forward to it."

The Austin Regional is a double elimination tournament and will feature Auburn, Northwestern, Houston, and the No. 6 national seed Texas.

Winners of this weekend's regionals advance to the Super Regionals May 24-27. The women's College World Series in Oklahoma City is May 31-June 6.

The Tigers have had a good year after jumping out to a 15-0 start and finishing with a 30 RPI and a 33-21 overall record. And it isn't over yet.

Go Tigers, Beat the Cougars!
