Nell Fortner is resigning from her position as the head women's basketball coach at Auburn at the end of this season. Charles Goldberg (@AUGoldMine) was the first to report the news.
Fortner and the Lady Tigers are 11-16 overall and 3-11 in the SEC this year. They have games remaining against Alabama and Ole Miss. Those two games will serve as Nell Fortner's farewell tour. And we think she deserves that.
She led one of the most dominant Auburn teams ever in 2008-2009. That team went 30-4. A fond memory of that season is Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols coming to a full Beard - Eaves Memorial Coliseum and walking away defeated.
We wish Nell the best of luck and would like to thank her for all of her contributions to Auburn University.
War Eagle, Nell.
