Auburn combo guard Varez Ward is currently the target of an FBI investigation into possible point-shaving, according to Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. That's the same Charles Robinson that broke the story on the Miami football scandal last year.
Regarding possible NCAA violations, it appears that Auburn did all the right things once learning of the Ward's alleged acts. Once another Auburn player alerted an assistant coach, Tony Barbee's staff informed the NCAA and FBI. Ward was suspended immediately and hasn't been a part of the team since.
If the allegations are true, Ward will certainly be facing jail time if convicted, in addition to whatever actions anyone running a gambling ring might take. All in all, Ward's life will probably never be the same.
There isn't much to say regarding this news. Let's just allow the facts unfold and hope for the best for V.
