Bachkora Joins Softball Staff

Jessica Bachkora has been hired by Auburn as an assistant coach to work with the softball team’s outfielders, slappers and hitters.

Auburn’s outfield was solid last season, but the presence of Bachkora should make them even better. In 2012 Auburn lost 23 games, with 10 of those losses being by margins of 2 or fewer runs. The Tigers will count on Coach Bachkora to see that they find themselves on the other side of these close games. Three of Auburn’s top five hitters were seniors last season so improvements must be made with the underclassmen to be competitive in the SEC.

Bachkora brings SEC playing experience to the coaching staff and will certainly be a positive influence on the players. She played centerfield for Arkansas from 2007-2010, where she rewrote most of the Razorback’s offensive record book. While no one is going to call Arkansas a powerhouse in terms of SEC softball, Bachkora was certainly an elite player during her time there. She played one season professionally following graduation and then returned to Arkansas where she served as a graduate assistant while earning her master’s degree in exercise science. Having coached 18 & under softball since 2008, she should also be a welcome addition to the staff in terms of recruiting.

During her playing days, Bachkora never won a game in Auburn – but we look forward to that changing this spring.
