New, 5 comments

Auburn enters the 2012 season unranked by the Associated Press, which released its preseason poll this morning. The Tigers are one of the teams listed as "others receiving votes."

Six SEC teams are ranked in the AP's first poll of the season. No. 2 Alabama leads the way, followed by No. 3 LSU, No. 6 Georgia, No. 9 South Carolina, No. 10 Arkansas, and No. 23 Florida.

The SEC's six teams is tied with the Big 12 for most represented conference in the poll. Southern Cal enters the season as the AP's No. 1 team. No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 5 Oregon complete the top five.

Auburn will play five teams this season ranked in the AP's preseason top 25 -- Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, and No. 14 Clemson. Three of those games will be played at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers play Clemson in Atlanta and Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
