Auburn Lands a Big Commitment

It's been a trying few days for the Auburn Family and those around the football program, so this bit of good news is nice to report, no matter how insignificant it is in the grand scheme of things. Auburn has picked up a new commitment for the 2013 recruiting class in Tashawn Bower.

The Somerville, N.J., (Immaculata HS) native is rated as a 4-star recruit, ranked as the No. 3 weakside defensive end, and number 112 overall recruit according to 247Sports. Bower becomes the Tigers' third defensive line commit of this class joining Carl Lawson and Dee Liner to form a star-studded trio.

Auburn and coach Mike Pelton, Bower's lead recruiter, extended an offer on March 8 and that was enough to make the cut for his top 10 of more than 30 offers nationwide. On June 2, Bower and his traveled to Auburn for a four-day stay, touring the campus and talking to coaches. The visit made a lasting impression, and a little less than two weeks later, he made his decision public. Bower has developed a great relationship with Pelton and the appeal of playing in the SEC was a strong factor in his decision.

Bower is Auburn's 12th commit for the 2013 class.
