While preseason polls are quite worthless, one thing that does excite us about their release is that it means football season is getting really close. USA Today released its preseason Top 25 poll for college football this morning. Auburn checks in at No. 25.
As you might expect, the SEC is well represented in the poll with seven teams in the top 25, nine in the top 33, and eleven teams receiving votes.
LSU and Alabama start the season 1-2, followed closely by USC at No. 3. Oklahoma and Oregon complete the top 5, and Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina, and Arkansas round out the the top 10. Florida, at No. 23, and Auburn complete the SEC's representation in the preseason ranking.
With so many big games at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn's schedule is supposed to be easier on the Tigers this year. But with five opponents ranked in the top 15 -- No. 1 LSU, No. 2 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 14 Clemson -- it's obvious that the schedule won't be giving Auburn too many breaks.
