After their seventh win in eight games this season, the Auburn Tigers continued their ascent of the college football rankings. Following a 45-10 victory over Florida Atlantic, Auburn is ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and Harris Poll.
The three-spot improvement in the AP poll is fairly standard, as the Tigers bypassed a couple of previously higher-ranked teams that lost. They also leapfrogged Clemson, which overcame a slow start to beat Maryland Saturday. In the coaches' poll, Auburn made the biggest positive gains of any team, jumping six spots from No. 17. The Tigers were ranked No. 11 in the initial BCS standings last week, and it seems that coaches (SIDs) took notice and adjusted accordingly. Harris voters moved them up from No. 15.
With the big improvements in the human polls, Auburn could be looking at a nice bounce in the official BCS standings.
