BCS standings, Week 10: Auburn holds steady at No. 11

The Tigers didn't make a move in the new standings.

Auburn held onto its No. 11 ranking in this week's BCS standings, which were released Sunday night. Despite a couple of higher-ranked teams losing, the Tigers couldn't take advantage.

Oklahoma, which beat then-No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday, took over the 10 spot. Missouri, which was No. 5 before a double-overtime home loss against South Carolina, only fell to No. 9

Gus Malzahn's team made big gains in the human polls that affect the BCS formula, jumping six spots in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and four spots in the Harris Poll, landing at No. 11 in both rankings. Despite playing a lesser opponent in a 45-10 win over Florida Atlantic, Auburn didn't seem to suffer much in the computer rankings. Its computer average was No. 7 last week, and remained the same this week. Still, playing a weak opponent didn't do the Tigers any favors in the new computer rankings.

However, with four SEC games in November, there will be plenty of opportunity to move up if they keep winning.

The big news at the top of the new standings is Oregon overtaking Florida State for the No. 2 position. Both teams won in blowouts over the weekend, but the quality of the Ducks' opponent, then-No. 12 UCLA, gave them the computer boost needed to slip past the 'Noles. Oregon and FSU are ranked 2 and 3, respectively, in both human polls.
