Brandon King, the No. 176 rated recruit according to 247Sports, has officially signed to play for Auburn. King faxed in his National Letter of Intent earlier Wednesday.
King, who played for Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, chose Auburn over Arizona State and and Arkansas State, the 2 other finalists for his services.
King comes to Auburn by way of Highland Community College in Kansas. King is expected to fit perfectly into Auburn Defensive Coordinator Ellis Johnson's defense perfectly at the Linebacker/Safety hybrid position, or the Star position. King's JUCO position coach, Ryan Held, described King as a "Tomahawk Cruise Missile" when coming off the edge and using him in blitz packages.
King had considered Arkansas State heavily until visiting Auburn after Gus Malzahn was hired. After also considering Auburn and Arkansas State, he ultimately chose the Tigers.
King was the 14th-highest Safety in the 247Sports rankings, trailing. He joins an Auburn team that is serious need of solid linebacker play. Let's hope he provides the spark to ignite Auburn's defense once again.
