Auburn football recruiting: Kenny Flowers officially signs with Tigers

JUCO linebacker Kenny Flowers sent his National Letter of Intent to Auburn on National Signing Day.

USA TODAY Sports

Kenny Flowers, the No. 68-rated JUCO recruit according to 247Sports, has officially signed to play for Auburn. Flowers faxed in his National Letter of Intent earlier Wednesday.

Flowers, who played for Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, chose the Tigers over Texas A&M, Arkansas and Texas Tech, the other three finalists for his services. He committed to Gus Malzahn's team on Jan. 25.

Flowers had zeroed in on Auburn after also considering offers from the Aggies, Razorbacks and Red Raiders. He originally committed to A&M on Nov. 2, 2012, but after an official visit to the Plains on Jan. 18, 2013, and with the Aggies' 2013 recruiting class balooning, he decommitted. Flowers listed Auburn as his leader on Jan. 20, and he committed five days later.

Flowers was the third-highest JUCO inside linebacker in the 247Sports rankings, trailing Marceice Jackson and Antonio Longino, and he was listed as the No. 12 player from Kansas He joins an Auburn squad that has been pretty bad at linebacker since the beginning of the 2011 season, and being a JUCO player with experience, he could provide immediate help.
