Daniel Carlson, the No. 1-rated kicker according to 247Sports's composite rankings, has officially signed to play for Auburn. Carlson faxed in his National Letter of Intent earlier Wednesday.

Carlson, who played for The Classical Academy (Pike Forest, Colo.), committed to the Tigers back on July 1, 2012, and he never wavered in his pledge.

Carlson had zeroed in on Auburn after also considering offers from LSU, Air Force and California. Auburn was the first school to offer the 6'5, 190-pound prospect, and he rewarded the Tigers with his loyalty. He made his last official visit to the Plains on Oct. 27, 2012.

In addition to being the top-rated kicker in the 247Sports rankings, he was listed as the No. 5 player in the state of Colorado. He joins an Auburn squad that is pretty set on special teams at the moment, but having the top kicker to waiting his turn is an nice luxury for the Tigers.
