Auburn football recruiting: Elijah Daniel flips to Auburn

Auburn picked up a big signing to start the day in defensive end Elijah Daniel.

Elijah Daniel, the No. 51-rated recruit according to 247Sports's composite rankings, has officially signed to play for Auburn. Daniel faxed in his National Letter of Intent earlier Wednesday, flipping from Ole Miss.

Daniel, who played for Avon (Ind.) High School, chose the Tigers over the Rebels. He had previously committed to Ole Miss on Jan. 20.

Daniel had zeroed in on Auburn after also considering offers from 29 other schools, including Mississippi State, Florida, Florida State and Georgia. He was a long-time Clemson commit, but he broke ranks with the Tigers on Nov. 19. After visiting Ole Miss on Nov. 23, he eventually committed to the Rebels. But after visiting Auburn over the weekend, he decided to sign with Gus Malzahn's Tigers.

Daniel was the sixth-highest strongside defensive end in the 247Sports rankings, and he was the No. 2-ranked player from the state of Indiana. He joins an Auburn squad that has struggled on the defensive line recently.
