The college football rankings for Week 5 are out, and after defeating Auburn, 35-21, LSU moved up two spots in to the top five of the USA Today Coaches' Poll. In the Associated Press Top 25, the Tigers held steady at No. 6. Auburn received votes in both polls last week, but the good Tigers were shut out this week.
Elsewhere, Alabama lost a few first-place votes to Oregon after the Crimson Tide's shaky performance against Colorado State. Fresno State, which joined the Coaches' Poll last week, moved in to the AP Top 25 this week thanks to a thrilling 41-40 victory over Boise State.
