In a surprise move late this morning, word was released that Auburn has scheduled a home-and-home series with Cal for 2019 and 2020. Cal will travel to Auburn in 2019 and Auburn to Berkley in 2020.
This is a very interesting move and one I wholeheartedly approve of. Auburn and Cal have never played in football, so it should be a well-attended game at both stadiums. It will be a bit of a culture shock for fans on either side traveling to the opposing stadium, which will make it even more fun.
With this, Auburn's "Power 5" non-conference games are set through 2020 with the exception of 2018. Auburn will play Louisville in the 2015 Chick-fil-A Kick-Off game, and then host Clemson in 2016 and travel there in 2017. Following this pattern, it looks like Jacobs may be trying to set it where Auburn has a neutral site game against a one-off opponent for one season and then a home-and-home over the next two years.
