Watch List Watching

Each week, we’ll take a look at how the Auburn players on watch lists performed on the field and who their competition might be.

Cameron Artis-Payne (Doak Walker)

CAP took a quick break from the Watch Lists, but is back on the radar as a semi-finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation's best running back. Despite the dominance of the UGA RBs last week, CAP still leads the SEC in rushing yards (1,276) and is ranked 11th nationally. He has rushed for at least 100 yards in seven games this season. He ran for 91 yards and one TD against UGA.

Three finalists will be announced next week, and the competition includes Melvin Gordon, Duke Johnson and Amer Abdullah.

Editor's Note (Just Because): The competition also includes Georgia Southern's Matt Breida.

Sammie Coates (Biletnikoff)

Coates had three catches for 31 yards, but also was one of several receivers with costly drops.

Reese Dismukes (Lombardi, Outland, Rimington)

Georgia dominated the line of scrimmage throughout the game. One would assume that coaches are looking to Dismukes to help get the offensive line back on track.

Nick Marshall (Davey O'Brien, Manning, Maxwell, Walter Camp)

Marshall remained rather poised throughout the game but could never break a big play. He went 11-of-23 for 121 yards (1 INT) and ran for another 41 rushing yards.

CJ Uzomah (Mackey)

Uzomah had three catches for 39 yards.

Gabe Wright (Bronko Nagurski, Outland)

Wright recorded two tackles and one assist.

Notable Competition

Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon is the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week as he broke the FBS single-game rushing record with 408 yards in just three quarters.
