The Tigers look to rebound from their loss on Monday night / Tuesday morning to Colorado when they take on Sun Belt Conference foe Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night in Auburn arena.
This will be the third straight game for Auburn against a team who went dancing last season. ULL won the Sun Belt Tournament last season and gained the conference auto-bid. They were a 14 seed and lost in the "second round" (the first round after the "play-in") to 3 seed Creighton. From that team, ULL returns two starters and nine letter winners according to the official site's breakdown.
Bruce Pearl said he wanted the Tigers to play a tough non-conference schedule, and he has definitely lived up to that so far this season. Last season's early games were against teams that may have been even worse than Auburn, while this season the Tigers are testing themselves against tough competition right from the start.
As of this writing, there is no word on the status of Antoine Mason's status for Friday. It is questionable at best. Tahj Shamsid-Deen played against Colorado and all indications are that he is doing just fine and will play Friday night as he played Tuesday morning. In other good news for the Tigers, Matthew Atewe will not need surgery on his leg after his injury against West Alabama.
If you're in town for the game, I highly recommend getting over to the Arena and checking out this team. They may be sloppy at times, but they are very fun to watch. If you can't make it into town or can't get to the Arena, hopefully this article helped let you know how you can at least still cheer on the Tigers! There will be an open thread posting here on College and Magnolia 15 minutes prior to tip-off. Join in the discussion with other Tiger basketball fans!
