After a little over a week layoff since the Coastal Carolina game, the Auburn Tigers will return to the court on Sunday at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina.
This is the last non-conference road game for Auburn before they begin SEC play. The next five games will be played in the familiar confines of Auburn Arena.
Clemson is 5-3 on the season, 3-2 at home. They have already defeated two teams predicted to be in the top half of the SEC. The defeated LSU 64-61 at a neutral site, and Arkansas 68-65 in overtime at home. Clemson has yet to play a true road game this season.
Auburn enters the game 3-4, 0-2 away, with another loss at a neutral site. This will be a very different Auburn Tigers basketball team that takes the court, however. Auburn welcomes back sophomore forward Alex Thompson from a "leave of absence," guard Antoine Mason from injury, and newcomer center Trayvon Reed joins the team for the first time.
It is unlikely any of those three - except possibly Mason - will see significant playing time, but just having the added depth is something the Tigers have sorely needed.
This will be a very tough game for the Auburn Tigers. A win against Clemson would give Auburn a lot of momentum going into the final stretch of non-conference games before the SEC season starts.
