AUBURN FOOTBALL

Reese Dismukes earned yet another honor in being named a first team AP All American. Well deserved, Reese. Congrats!

Today is JUCO signing day for those wishing to enroll early. Former Auburn commit Tony Bridges has signed with Ole Miss already this morning. Auburn has offered a JUCO punter a "preferred walk-on" spot. The only definite signing Auburn can expect today is former signee Jason Smith. He signed with Auburn early this morning. Smith has played QB in JUCO and will get a chance at the position at Auburn, but will likely end up a WR or DB. We'll have more information on these signees as/when/if they come in.

Duke Williams sent #AuburnTwitter into a tizzy last night as everyone rushed to manually retweet this cryptic tweet:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I have to do what&#39;s best for me and my family</p>&mdash; IG:OHHKILLEM_ONE (@YFBurnna_cmh) <a href="https://twitter.com/YFBurnna_cmh/status/544979869918969856">December 16, 2014</a></blockquote>

Everyone immediately assumed that meant he was going pro. However, he came back a little while later with the following:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I said I have to do what&#39;s best for my family so that don&#39;t mean I&#39;m going pro or coming back yet </p>&mdash; IG:OHHKILLEM_ONE (@YFBurnna_cmh) <a href="https://twitter.com/YFBurnna_cmh/status/545012671574454272">December 17, 2014</a></blockquote>

No one knows exactly what Duke is going to do, yet. If I had to guess, he's going to ride the big game performance of the Iron Bowl into the draft. That's just a guess on my part, though.

Rhett Lashlee spoke to the media last night about a number of things. One being that he's not actively seeking head coaching jobs right now. That's good news for Auburn fans who love having Lashlee on the sideline coaching the offense. Some other interesting things that came out of that conversation are how things are progressing in bowl practice with some of the younger players. That article begins with the Duke Williams info from above, but read further down for some other good nuggets.

When football season is over for this season, Auburn will enter familiar territory from the majority of the past decade: a QB competition. Sure, Jeremy Johnson is the presumptive starter and has the advantage of playing time and experience, but don't count out Sean White just yet. And there's always JUCO signee Jason Smith, though as I said earlier I believe he ends up elsewhere on the team.

RB Kamryn Pettway - who redshirted this season - has been getting some work at the H-back position. We don't know if this is going to be a permanent move, but it was one thing that was listed as a possibility before the season began due to Pettway's size at 6 feet, 220lbs. Meanwhile, Jovon Robinson is already starting to click with the offense.

AUBURN BASKETBALL

The women take on Savannah State tonight, and the men will play Winthrop. More on these later this morning!
