Auburn vs Xavier 2014: How to watch online, TV Schedule, and more

What you need to know for today's game.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Auburn Tigers men's basketball team will play perhaps their toughest opponent yet this season on Saturday afternoon in Auburn Arena when they welcome the Xavier University Musketeers.

According to the official game notes, Auburn has played Xavier eight times in its history and has not defeated them since 1970. That's a long time. The last time the two teams played was 2008, a very bad 80-57 loss for the Tigers.

Xavier finished last season with a 21-13 record. They lost in the "First Four" portion of the NCAA Tournament. It will be the 9th team out of 10 total games so far this season the Tigers have faced who played in a post-season tournament last year. The Musketeers bring an 8-2 record into this game and have already defeated two SEC foes. They beat Alabama at home 97-84 on December 6th and Missouri on the road 74-58 last Saturday.

For Auburn, this will be the second of five consecutive home non-conference games to close out the non-conference schedule. The Tigers are 4-5, but are just now starting to get all of the pieces in place. The addition of Trayvon Reed and Antoine Mason's return from injury sparked the Tigers to a victory in their game Wednesday night vs Winthrop.

This will likely be the toughest game Auburn has left before starting the conference schedule. It is probably the best team they have played so far this season. That would lead many to believe the Tigers have no chance given the ugly losses to Colorado and Tulsa, but with the added depth, scoring prowess, and rebounding ability with Mason and Reed in the line-up means this is a completely different Auburn team. It should be a very good game.
