Auburn links of the day, brief (not much info) on the DC search, and discussing the Capital One Mascot Challenge.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR SEARCH

The top story on al.com this morning for Auburn football is about Auburn's history of paying assistants big money. We know Muschamp is going to be the highest paid assistant coach in college football wherever he goes. Another interesting thing in that article is the amount of money we're on the hook for to former coaches: it's upwards of $7.1 million. Yay.

That's really all the information out there. We know from various sites that Muschamp is on vacation and Gus is out recruiting. We know some names to watch if Muschamp falls through are Greg Odom at Memphis and recently jobless Bill Clark from UAB. I wouldn't rule out Wisconsin's Dave Aranda. I hope we hire someone soon, but we also have no clue on any timelines, too. As soon as I know something, you can believe we'll update you.

AUBURN FOOTBALL

There really isn't much to report on the general football front, today. AL.com has an updated article on bowl projections, and also an interview with Ellis Johnson on the Iron Bowl woes of the defense.

AUBURN BASKETBALL

The ladies went on a run in the second half last night and beat Marquette 79-53. The Tigers improved to 4-2 on the season.

The men take on Texas Tech tonight in Lubbock. We'll have a preview on that game up for you a bit later in the early afternoon.

MISCELLANEOUS

Auburn legend Pat Sullivan is stepping down at Samford. This is not unexpected, as Coach Sullivan has been coaching from the booth for a good bit of this season. A search firm will be working to find his replacement. I'm sure Auburn OC Rhett Lashlee's name will be mentioned, but I don't think Lashlee will take an FCS job. Personally, I'm holding out hope Lashlee is willing to listen (unlike last season, from what I've heard) if Georgia Southern comes calling on him WHEN Willie Fritz is hired away somewhere. Though I also hope Willie Fritz stays at GS for a long time.

Some Auburn Tigers (Tre Mason in particular) had big days in the NFL this past weekend. You can read more about it here.

I forgot to mention it yesterday, but please go vote for Aubie in the Capital One Mascot Challenge! How has Aubie never won this!?!? The rules are in the link above, but it's as simple as a tweet saying "I would take a selfie with Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium #CaptialOneAubie." Seriously. Copy and paste that and tweet it or put it on Facebook. Aubie gets 50 points every time you do it. Are you a selfie-taking person? Well, if you actually take a selfie and tweet it with #CapitalOneAubie, he gets 100 points for every time it's done. Example is like this from when I just happened to see Aubie in the common area of my building here on campus:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I got my selfie with <a href="https://twitter.com/AubietheTiger01">@AubietheTiger01</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CapitalOneAubie?src=hash">#CapitalOneAubie</a> <a href="http://t.co/9JegHj857H">pic.twitter.com/9JegHj857H</a></p>&mdash; Walt (@AUTigerGSUEagle) <a href="https://twitter.com/AUTigerGSUEagle/status/539450137542942720">December 1, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Let's push Aubie to the win!
