It's about time.

Aubie is just the greatest. We all know that. He has won a record eight mascot national championships and was one of the first three college mascots inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006. His most recent championship - before tonight, was the 2014 Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship. Here is his awesome highlight video for last season's championship run:

And his performance routine at the championship:

His highlight video for this year's championships is awesome, as well:

Even with all of that awesomeness, Aubie had never won the Capital One Mascot Challenge. Until tonight.

During tonight's Capital One Orange Bowl, it was announced that undeafeated Aubie topped UCLA's Joe Bruin to take this year's event. This was Aubie's first trip to the finals after making it to the semi-finals in 2011. Aubie was never seriously tested until the semi-final rematch with South Carolina Gamecocks mascot Cocky. Voting went to the final hour, but Aubie pulled it off.

Congrats, Aubie. You are one of the things that make Auburn so much fun. This is an honor long-deserved.

War Eagle!
