After landing a verbal commitment from offensive lineman Tyler Carr earlier today, Gus Malzahn and the Auburn football program have picked up a pledge from another class of 2015 standout. This evening, three-star tight end Jalen Harris of St. James School in Montgomery, Alabama became the 17th recruit to decide to suit up for the Tigers this cycle.
Before picking Auburn, the 6'5 245-pound Harris considered scholarship offers from some of the top college football programs in the South: Alabama, LSU, Miami, and Vanderbilt, are just a few of the many teams who sent out an offer to Jalen during his recruiting process.
With the upcoming graduation of C.J. Uzomah, Auburn needed to add a tight end to the roster who could not just catch, but also block. Harris fits that mold perfectly. Last season at St. James, Jalen caught 17 passes for over 280 yards, while also helping lead the way for a Trojans rushing attack that averaged over 235 yards a contest.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, the Tigers have landed the 26th tight end, the 29th player from Alabama, and the 806th overall prospect in the entire class of 2015.
