The Auburn Softball team has started up 2015 practices with less than a month until they open their season with Troy on February 5th @ 6pm. As the team works in the cold and sometimes rainy conditions in Auburn, the goal and focus remains the same - to reach Oklahoma City and the College World Series. Coach Clint Meyers wants the team to improve on the 42 wins they had last year and believes he has the talent to do so. The team was hard at work the week before classes began so that they could practice at the pace needed to improve. Meyers has stated that he likes having the extra time so that they can slow down, speed up, or take extra days to really focus on the drills and skills to make the Tigers a more well-rounded team this year.
Talk coming from the players is that they realize the time spent in the cold now will payoff later in the year. The journey will be a tough but winnable one with games against Arizona, Arizona State and an always difficult SEC slate. Look for the Tigers to return good pitching and defense (.979 fielding %) to go along with another explosive offense trying to best its 2014 totals (83 HRs .519 slugging % 440 runs scored). The Troy opener will also kick-off a 13 game home stand.
Let's do our best to support them as they go for Oklahoma City in 2015.
