4* Safety Tim Irvin Commits to Auburn

In a not unexpected move, the Miami native flips from the Longhorns to the Tigers.

After his official visit to Auburn in this mega-recruiting weekend, 4* 247Sports Composite Safety Tim Irvin from Miami, FL flipped from Texas to Auburn. If "Irvin" and "Miami" ring some bells, it's because Tim is the nephew of former Dallas wide receiver Michael Irvin.

Irvin committed to Texas during the US Army All-American Bowl, but even then there was talk that the Tigers were in play. His relationship with Auburn cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson put the Tigers in play. He still pulled the trigger for the Longhorns that night, but a flip was always possible.

Irvin is an early entree, and was expected to enroll at Texas next week. The Longhorns tried hard to keep him from visiting Auburn, even to the point of threatening his offer, as it was suspected that a visit right before enrollment would end with Irvin changing sides.

Irvin decided to go through with his official visit to Auburn, and in the end decided that Auburn was the place for him. This weekend was a chance for him to build a relationship with Auburn's players and other DB commitments like fellow Safety Jordan Colbert.

This is a big addition to the Tigers' 2015 class. He's not exactly tall, at 5'8.5", and 194 lbs, but he's the type of Safety that Coach Will Muschamp loves. He will now enroll at Auburn this week and begin classes and get ready to participate in spring practice.

Here is some of his highlight footage:
