3* DB Chris Westry De-commits From Auburn, Commits to Kentucky

Not exactly unexpected, but still a loss.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

First reported by Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports, 3* DB Chris Westry, a 6'4", 180lbs cornerback from Oakleaf High in Orange Park, FL has decommited from the Auburn Tigers and committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Westry came out of nowhere when Auburn offered him and he committed to the Tigers back in July of last year. Auburn cornerbacks coach Melvin Smith was extremely high on him. However, with the changes in the defensive staff, it wasn't until recently that Westry actually spoke to defensive coordinator Will Mushcamp.

Auburn has been recruiting a lot of other defensive backs of late. They recently flipped Tim Irvin from Texas, and are working hard on others on 3*s Javarius Davis and Sheldrick Redwine.

Westry may not have been ranked very high, but there are many recruiting people who are very high on him. I do think this is quite the loss for the Tigers. Particularly so if they miss out on some of the other DB prospects they have recently started recruiting.

Losing Westry takes Auburn's class back to 20 commitments. Since the Tigers plan on taking 27-28 in the 2015 class, it opens the door wider for those big names to step in.

Personally, my wish list is CowartJeffersonHollandIveyRyan DavisJavarius DavisPrince Tega Wanogho, Jr, and a player to be named later.
